Superman/Batman Worship Paul Levitz Jerry Ordway Books

Bought this because it contains Superman/Batman 75, a double sized anniversary issue with lots of great writers and artists. Except in this Trade Paperback form it does not contain all the bonus extra stories that were supposed to be included in that issue just the main story.
Also did not care for the story but I'm not a batman beyond fan

Superman/Batman Worship Paul Levitz Jerry Ordway Books Reviews

A word that describe this book POINTLESS!.

What impress me about this book is the material in which is made. Pages are glossy and all and make it looks prettier that it actually is.

There's several stories here. First a Batman Beyond story that is about an Old Lex Luthor still hating Superman. Pointless and boring if you ask me.

Second story is about Superman worshipers trying to honor they're hero by killing someone dear to him. Is also about the desperation of Lex trying to be a God whatever means necessary.

The third story is (maybe) a follow up of the last one. A Luthor plan cooked for 1000 years and coming back in time to hunt Superman. The Legion helps, but you don't really get the sense of excitement nor anything. B-O-R-I-N-G!.

At the end there is a few pages of the upcoming book Hush Beyond of the brand Batman Beyond. Just a few pages. Nothing that leaves you wanting for more, really.

When I finished the I felt like I just read a magazine with haircut stiles or something very linear and with no excitement at all. Nothing really happened in this book. Worst of all, like most of the Superman/Batman books, seems to be this brand isn't necessary. Anything in the books connects with nothing.

Really, save your money. If you need to get this one I stronly suggest you download it first. Save money and space on your shelf.
good book. very good storyline to follow from start to finish...shows the strength of the writers and animators...would recommend highly..
I'm a regular reader of the Superman/Batman books, and they are usually great stories, heavy on the action and adventure. This one delves into much deeper territory, concerning worship, and what that means. As the back of the book states, Superman has godlike powers. I won't go too far into spoilers (MINOR SPOILERS!!!), but the story revolves around two instances. One being a group of Superman worshippers who want to kill Lois Lane for 'spurning' Superman and marrying Clark Kent instead. Pretty funny actually, when you think about it. And we get to see some nice moves by Lois. Plus, after an accident offworld, a population on another planet grows to hate Superman. Lex tries to take advantage of that by using propaganda to make a religion out of hating Superman. Let's just say he's central to the plot, and leave it at that. In addition, we get a glimpse of the future of Superman/Batman, with an older Bruce Wayne coaching his young Batman Beyond protege, and an encounter that crosses over with an older Superman still in his lifelong battle against Lex's evil machinations. It's just a fun little one shot, but I'm glad it was in there. In addition, as the worship storyline progresses, we get treated to some actions involving the Legion of Superheroes. I've seen other reviewers say this was confusing, but I can't refute that without giving away spoilers. I didn't find it confusing at all, just ambitious as it tied multiple threads together. Suffice to say, I loved it. They also give a sneak peak of the upcoming Batman Beyond book, Hush Beyond. (Batman Beyond Hush Beyond) All in all, while it was a more serious read, I still give it a five star rating, or at the very least a 4.5. I say if you're a fan of the Superman/Batman books, then you're still going to love it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Thanks for your time folks.
Sincerely, R.A. McDowell
It came on time and was as described.
Superman/Batman Worship collects issues #72-75 and Annual #4 of Superman/Batman, all originally published in 2010. It's not clear, continuity-wise, when these stories take place, as the main story features a Bruce Wayne Batman and the secondary story the future Batman from Batman Beyond. Worship's production quality is passable but on the poorer side; though the spine is solid, the pages are very thin and excessively glossy. The book contains no extras, but does include an eight-page excerpt/advertisement for Batman Beyond Hush Beyond.

As for the content, Paul Levitz offers up two stories. The first, with attractive art by Renato Guedes, is set in the future and sees the Terry McGinnis Batman teaming up with an older Superman to end Lex Luthor's reign over Metropolis. As a short, self-contained story it works well, but it offers nothing particularly memorable (and seems to be intended partly as a promotion for the newest Batman Beyond graphic novel). The longer story, Worship, is more ambitious, but also a little nonsensical. In it, Lex Luthor uses propaganda to cause an alien planet to develop a religion dedicated to the murder of Superman. A Superman-worshiping Earth cult is also involved, though I can't quite determine how, and the Legion of Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes makes an abrupt appearance to help bring the story to a rushed and somewhat ridiculous end. Paul Levitz is usually an excellent writer (see, for instance, his fantastic The Legion of Super-Heroes Vol 1 The Choice), but this is bad stuff that will disappoint both Superman and Batman fans. Jerry Ordway's pencils for Worship, however, are good, though some readers may object to how Pete Pantazis has colored them.

Even if you're a regular reader of Superman/Batman, you're better off skipping Worship. Not only is it the worst collection to be released in this series, but its stories seem to occur outside of current DC Universe continuity--so you won't be missing any plot points important for future issues. Casual readers looking for a good Superman/Batman book would be better off picking up any of the previous volumes, especially Superman/Batman The Search for Kryptonite and Superman/Batman, Vol. 5 Enemies Among Us.
No one should be a god, even if they do have super powers. This could lead to a whole lot of let set down an talk about this before you do something stupid, in my name.
